Anthony Mastrianni

SAVANNAH - Anthony Mastrianni, 60, died peacefully at Emory University Hospital on April 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Dominic and the late Anne Mastrianni. Born on December 12, 1952 in Plainfield, New Jersey, he attended Union Catholic Boys School Class of 1970 and Rutgers University, from which he earned a Bachelors in Civil Engineering.

He was a member of Rincon United Methodist Church and was dedicated to community and school-based coaching roles for many years. Anthony had a lifelong love for the game of golf, an insatiable curiosity for engineering, and entertained with his songs and wit. He loved his family and his students dearly.

Anthony is survived by his family, Monica, Patrick and Alyssa Mastrianni, sisters, Andrea Hodge and Valerie Mastrianni, nieces, Leslie Hodge Bryant, April and Robin Diffenderfer and nephews, Charles Hodge and Will Diffenderfer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, from 5:00 – 6:30 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah GA, followed by a service celebrating Anthony's life at 6:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Treutlen House, Rincon Georgia, 131 Old Augusta Road Central, Rincon, GA 31326, or designated to the Mason Guest House for transplant patients, MSC0970-001-8AA, Office of Gift Records, Emory University, 1762 Clifton Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta GA 30322-4001.

Rest peacefuly in heaven Mr. Mastrianni. Although I only knew you for a short while as my 7th grade math teacher, you were my favorite teacher. And still are to this day. I still remember when I got the whole 7th grade to sing 'you are my sunshine' for you while you were in the hospital and the poster I made for you! You put up a good fight, now rest peacefully in heaven. You are greatly missed.
